(a) The Albany Congress convened in an attempt to bring to the alliance amongst the English and the Six Nations and to ensure westerly dominance over France. When the Indian leader Hendrick dissolve[d] the century-old compact between the English and the Iroquois league, the Board of Trade and Plantations (the governing advocate over the colonies) had no choice but to reply with an rhombus and rational response.
