This research article conducted a series of trinity experiments using five B hostelry-Collies who were all family pets and lived with their owners. Three of the tails had some schooling in fetching governs and the other two dogs were un adept. The researchers wanted to resolve if domestic dogs could understand homo linguistic symbols and make appropriate fetching responses. In this study, researchers specifically used replicas and photographs as the iconic symbols for the items the researchers wanted the dogs to retrieve. The researchers used adjacent rooms in the dog owners homes to conduct the experiments. The dog and owner waited in one room while the researcher set up a series of eight objects that the dog was familiar with in the other room. Then, the dog owner held up an identical replica, a miniature version, or a photograph of the item to be retrieved by the dog in the other room and gave the command for the dog to fetch. If the dog retrieved the correct item, a reward was given, all verbally and/or with food.



Each experiment had eight trials that followed the accurate same procedures and the dogs behaviors were compargond against the chance probability that had been calculated by the researchers. The trinity dogs with some fetching training retrieved the desired objects well above the chance levels in all three experiments while the two untrained dogs performed poorly in the eldest experiment, but had better results with each subsequent experiment. Interestingly, neither the trained dogs nor the untrained dogs had good results fetching the desired item when the symbol used was a photograph.
