As can be seen in the above descriptions and illustrations, the city of Los Angeles has a long history that dates back to the 18th century and will continue into, if not long after, the 21st Century. Since that first law of closure in 1781, "El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles" has gone through many changes, including shortening its name, however, while continuing to be influenced by its Mexican heritage.

In the midst of these changes, despite conflicts, racial tension, and other problems, Los Angeles has retained the ethnic diversity that it has had from the very beginning. This diversity can be seen not only in population statistics and historic influences, however, only also in the architecture, street names and places of interest that people visit.
